I’ve been working with a new social network for a couple of months now, and we’re in that oh-so-exciting private beta, invite-only but you can still request an account phase!
Here’s a snapshot of my latest venture, shopseen. It’s a social media network focused on shopping – of the physical, I got out of my car and walked around kind. shopseen is focused on getting more exposure to brick-and-mortar stores, specifically boutiques and indie shops.
When I go shopping, I take notes on things that I really like but, for whatever reason, cannot commit to buying on-the-spot. Unlike web tools like StyleFeeder which keep track of your virtual wishlist, there’s nothing comparable for actual windowshopping.
shopseen bridges that gap by giving you a place to send a pic and attach the store’s address. You see something you like, you take a picture of it, you upload it to shopseen‘s servers, et voila – you have shared your newest favorite local designer’s hat on teh Webz. For all the world to see.
Of course you can follow people and save your favorite finds and stores. You get a profile where all your found items are collected, and hopefully people with your similar tastes will join shopseen so that you can all take advantage of the special sales and events you find.
Our current priority is to get more people on shopseen, which explains why every link in this post is bold and leads to http://shopseen.com/join. At the moment we’re focused on building up our Bay Area boutique content, but if you’re outside of the region and still want a shopseen account, just join and submit your stores. The benefit of being a part of such a new community is that your issues get addressed quickly, so even those out-of-state stores will be added soon!
So in case I wasn’t obvious enough, please join shopseen. Go shop and share what you find. Then give us feedback! The account is free, and unlike that lonely sales person pining to maximize his commission during this recession, we don’t care if you actually buy the stuff you see or not. Males, females, hip-hop heads, recessionistas – Please stop by. We’d love to have you join our site.
P.S. Follow me! If you have problems requesting an account, just send me your e-mail address and I’ll get you an invite: theMaykazine [at] gmail [dot] com.
