Caught Zombieland a couple of weeks ago and I am so pleased that it didn’t end up one of those all-the-funny-parts-are-in-the-trailer deals. Abigail Breslin on Miley Cyrus? Hilar. My biggest takeaway from the film, oddly enough (because who expects any sort of takeaway from a clean and simple zombie flick?) was Emma Stone’s outfit.
- I love her hair. I wanna find a way to make this happen with my bangs. The week before Halloween, I’m ringing my stylist!
- She wears a white burnout V-neck tee with a very simple seam down the middle of her back. That back-seamed tee had me Googling for two days. My queries came up empty. (Thus the lack of picture.)
The elusive back-seamed tee then upgraded to unicorn status, and I had to find it. I’m a fairly determined person, so I did my research: hopped onto IMDB, looked up Zombieland’s costume designer, Googled “Magali Guidasci,” and found her Facebook page. I mulled it over for a while. What’s the creep-o-rating for Facebook messaging an industry professional you have no actual connection to? I wouldn’t be myself if 15% of my life decisions weren’t made with the reasoning “Ehh, why not?” So I composed a very concise message – Apologizing lightly for the random correspondence but explaining that it’s in my nature to go straight to the source when I’m curious – and hit “Send.”
Off went my little shot in the dark, and a couple of days later, I received this in my Facebook inbox:
thanks for you kind comment.
as far as white vneck it is simply express. now not too sure about the seam in the back if we did not do it in the purpose of sizing all t-shirts down since we need so many multiples. don’t remember now?? either or, that is where i found them.
have a beautiful day. magali
Doode. How cool is that. One, I didn’t creep out the poor woman. Two, the shirt’s from Express?? You mean it’s not an $80 James Perse exclusive-for-Emma Stone creation? Oh, the joy!
I’m not buying the tee until I find a friend who can spare his or her sewing machine (and his or her expertise) for an afternoon. But there you have it. En route to getting what I want, the first step is always knowing where to go.

Aw, gotta love the lengths we go for good design… All very reminiscent of me and my white chaise quest! P.S. LOVE Emma’s boots!
Style is a full-time job. š
That’s. Kind of awesome.
Thanks! I was worried people would think I’m hella weird and obsessed…Haha.
I’m so glad to finally find a site that has some insight into what Emma Stone is wearing in Zombieland. I’ve Googled myself crazy over her outfit!
I swung by to the Express online store but I can’t seem to find the top. I live in the UK so I’m hoping it’s not a top that’s only available in store!
Thanks for this.
Jude
Hi Judith,
If you read the above, you can basically find any burnout V-neck but you’ll have to doctor it up. Though it sounds annoying, you’ll pretty much be a one-of-a-kind in the UK! š
Hi! i couldnt find this tee on the site, could you send a link? thanks!
Hi K,
Like Guidasci said, she had to tailor the shirt in a special way. I’d suggest just finding a burnout V-neck tee anywhere and falling into the graces of a seamstress friend. š
Zombieland made me love Emma Stone! She’s so cute, and not in the cookie-cutter Hollywood sense. I loved the tee too, and the motorcycle boots! I’m looking for an affordable pair as slick as those.
I can’t wait for an excuse to wear my knee-high boots with jeans and a leather jacket…:D
I just wanted to say thank you thank you thank you for finding this out. I too went as far as IMDB-ing Magali Guidasci but didn’t even think of Facebook! Thanks for social networking in my stead! Much appreciated, and good to know I wasn’t the only one sitting through the movie for a second time going “I NEED that shirt!!”
Haha, it’s refreshing for me, too, to know I wasn’t the only curious one. I was starting to tick off my own materialistic meter. š
Anyone know who makes the boots?
Luz, you’re probably the fourth person to query that today. I’ll ask! š
I’m DYING to know who the designer of those boots are too! Been searching and searching. Hope you can help!
Cross your fingers, Blondie – I’ve inquired about the boots and the jacket! š
I believe I have found the exact boots. If not, they are really close.
They are the Bandolino Edwena boot.

I just got myself a pair from ebay!! They are a bit tough to find because they seem to be from last season so if you have a hard time with those, I found another pair that is very similar from Aldo.

Good luck!
Ooh, great suggestions, Amy! Thanks for digging those up for us.
YAY! Fingers are crossed! Thanks so much =)
I REALLY want her boots and jacket if the stylist has any insight on those as well!!
Thanks!
Haven’t heard anything yet. I followed up yesterday, too. š¦
Try Zappos.com – I just ordered a pair of Bandolino Castalinas. They have a buckle accent, unlike the boots Emma is wearing, but I liked the heel and shape of the toe.

Susan, you found ’em! Magali just wrote me back. I’m writing up a post to round up the pieces now. š
I just ordered these from Zappos.com: http://www.zappos.com/bandolino-castalina
They have a buckle accent but the heel and toe are similar to what Emma is wearing.
Cheers,
Susan K.
Thanks for the find, Susan!
Anyone get a bead on her jacket yet. I can’t even find anything remotely close to it.
Here’s a jacket that’s getting closer. Nooooot quite there yet though…

Cool! I saw a motorcycle jacket similar to Emma’s by BB Dakota yesterday. Didn’t have the waffle pattern, which I’m actually more partial to. Wasn’t too crazily priced, either!
Whoa! I totally just went googling the white tshirt and came up with nothing and thought – Hey, I’ll google ‘burnout zombieland’. I found you!
Thanks!!
I have had no luck finding the Express burnout tee, but Bella makes one. If anyone is truly set on having a backseam tee, I have a sewing machine!
š
Oh good! Glad you found the blog. Share the results of your tailoring if you make your own burnout tee!
You wouldn’t happen to find any similars to her jacket would you? I looked up the Diesel one and I unfortunately don’t have 550 bucks to shell out š¦
Hey Sydney,
Some people found some good lookalikes and posted them in the above comments. Take a look and good luck! In terms of affordability, I’d check out BB Dakota. š
