Congratulations to the team, we have officially created Santa Clara University’s first Asian Pacific Islander Alumni Chapter!
Got the good news at my first GDC party of the year at Cinematico. Turned out Tsunami (took a house class with her in December) was on the mocap floor, freestyling to house and capoeira. Don’t know how anybody works it out in a sweaty, encased mocap suit, but she did it! So cool to see. I was really impressed by how quickly the application picked up on the dancers’ movements. So fluid! It was like being on the set of Avatar. But not.
Also, it’s been a long time since I last spoke publicly to such a group. Even though I know these topics down pat, I felt like my lips were too big and I very nearly tripped over my words. I’ve never blanked before, even for two seconds. Embarrassed. Oh well. Fumbles are fumbles. Thanks to everyone’s dedication and the open minds of the board, we did it.
Mayka,
Congratulations to you and everyone involved in the planning of the presentation to the Alumni Association Board of Directors. I was very pleased to see that all your hard work paid off with their approval of the new chapter.
All the best,
Jim Purcell, Vice President
University Relations, SCU
Jim,
Thank you sincerely for your words during our Q&A. It meant so much to us that you volunteered your support! I’m looking forward to the challenge of watching this potentially huge group grow.
Thanks again,
Mayka
