4 Twitter chat tips
From Mayka Mei, Moxsie’s social media manager:
1. Attribute. Always give credit when retweeting, reblogging or reposting pictures. “It gives them 15 seconds of fame, and it shows that Moxsie is attentive to their contribution in our community,” Mei says.
2. Set guidelines and parameters. Open-ended questions get less response than questions with a more limited scope of responses, Mei says. Participants respond most to yes/no or true/false questions. The most open-ended Moxsie gets with its questions would be, “How would you style this outfit?” Because an outfit is made up of a limited number of pieces, it’s not a completely open-ended question.
3. Act like a sales representative. Mei says she approaches customers as though she’s an employee at a good boutique. “I use first names, remember bits about their style, and chit-chat about the non-fashion things that I know they’re into,” she says.
4. Keep chatting. “Even if a product comes in outside of a #buyerchat event, I’ll tweet a specific note to a #buyerchat regular if I think it’ll pique their interest,” Mei says.
