MAN. I can’t write better fiction than my last three weeks. I went to Italy. I went to LA. Twice. I’ve been overwhelmed (in the best of ways) at my new gig, and it’s been a rush.
I’ve been posting on blogs since 2001. I remember reading an article that described why “blog” is “blog” – It’s a shortened version of “weblog.” (At least, in that 2001 article it was.) Since 2001, I’ve hopped from “OMG I’m in high school!!” (Exhibits A and B) posts to “Dooooode, I have this college paper due and I’m going on a tirade against Xanga eprops” to…registering this WordPress.
When I first started The Maykazine, it was after an unintended hiatus from blogging. I finally had the time to write (something I enjoy – Broadcasting to an unknown audience has that strange effect.) and it positioned me well for the industry I was destined to join. As I entered that industry, though, my posts – their quality, frequency, and timeliness – ebbed and flowed. I hate admitting it, but my free time reflections depended on my work load. I used to fare very strongly with the goal of writing one new, original thing per day, but now I believe that goal hasn’t been met in over a year.
Instead of saying I’ll be getting back on track with the daily posts, I’m being real with myself. My life has changed exactly how I wanted it to. I’ve been “on the road” quite a bit recently and my travel time is only going to increase. I may not have as much free time to freestyle it up at a keyboard, but I am still fascinated and intrigued by tangible, conceptual, and delectable things. So instead of setting myself up for failure with a daily diary, my newfangled thang here is going to be sharing what’s pertinent to me as they come.
Peoples, places, things – Here’s a free ticket. Let’s go.
