How was your July 4th? I spent mine vacuuming, which felt awesome because I was all like eff-you-lazy-procrastination, and then retelling the story of our first date, and then hiking a new trail with Bill: Berkeley’s Huckleberry Botanic Regional Preserve.
It was such a sweet little spot! More shaded than Tilden, and with more interesting plants (kind of easy to figure out based on the name of the hike). Seriously, I felt inspired to shoot a bow a la Merida. (We saw Brave the week before.)
Surrounded by this many leaves and so much hidden life, it’s easy to see how woodland folklore develops its unique flavor and multitudinous mystery creatures.
